Have you always wanted to see how art is in Rotterdam? This is the perfect week to do so! You can experience all kinds of art ranging from live performance shows to technology art.
Art Rotterdam Week
As most people know, Rotterdam is a city with the shared motto of “Make it Happen”. One of the things that is popular around February is the Art Week. Especially during this week, there are special galleries in museums and art institutions. I will be sharing some advice on where to visit. One important tip to keep in mind through the week is that, there are free shuttle buses that will take you from Van Nelle Factory to the Kop van Zuid, Museum Park and Merwe-Vierhavens area. Another important tip is on 6th and 7th of February students can go to Art Rotterdam for 5 euros by showing your student pass. This discount is only available at the cash desk of Art Rotterdam!
OBJECT Rotterdam
This exhibition is mostly about contemporary design and it is held between 7th of February to 9th of February. The entrance fee is 12.50 euros and you can only buy the tickets from the building (no online ticket sales).
ART Rotterdam
If you are interested in seeing the works of young talent, you will enjoy this gallery. This year for the first time, there will be some performance art present in the exhibition. The ticket price is 16.50 euros, but if you want to see the performance art show to the combination ticket is 24 euros. If only performance art sounds interesting to you, it is 7.50 euros.
TEC ART Rotterdam
This year will be the 7th edition of TEC Art, it offers live acts, creative technology, coding, gaming art, techno and avant-garde. The ticket price is 5 euros for students and 7.50 euros for non-students. On the opening day (Wednesday), you can enter for free at 17:00. In addition, you can enter for free to Kunstblok avond (18:00-23:00).
Haute Photographie
This year for the 5th time, the photography fair returns to Rotterdam. It starts on 6th of February till 9th of February. The exhibition opens around 10:00 and closes around 19:00. The ticket price is 15 euros. One unique part of this exhibition is that, they support recent graduates photography.
Kunsthal Rotterdam
There will be 2 exhibitions present: one by Thierry Mugler: Couturissime and the other one is by Sanne Sannes. The second exhibition also includes film clips, archival material and books. The gallery opens around 10:00 and closes around 17:00. Ticket price is 16.50 euros. The exhibition by Sanne Sannes, focuses on desire and eroticism. Whereas, the gallery by Thierry Mugler is about haute couture collections that was created between 1977-2014.
