Film special: Promising Young Woman
9th March 2022 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
Together with Studium Generale, we invite you to our monthly movie night on campus. This time the screening of Promising Young Woman to highlight International Women’s Day (March 8). Revenge is Sweet or isn’t? With all the scandals around the Voice of Holland and various #MeToo’s this satiric film shows a woman who’s taken matters into her own hands. The society depicted shows how institutionalized some prejudices are towards men versus women. About the film: Everyone said Cassie (Carey Mulligan) was a promising young woman…until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. But nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be: she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life by night. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story. The film is the directors debut of Emereld Fennel, known for writing and producing the hit-series Killing Eve. The film has won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and many other prizes.
